Super Bowl Betting Guide: Tips to Make Your Action Fun

When it comes to Super Bowl gambling, your options are virtually endless. There are many different ways to bet on the Super Bowl, and all of them are fun in one way or another. Everyone, whether they are a casual or hardcore fan, can find some kind of bet to make on the Super Bowl. In fact, the Super Bowl is the one and only game that many people bet on each year. Super Bowl betting is a great way to have fun while making money, which is something that everyone can appreciate and enjoy.

Not taking into account the popular "squares" type of betting that your Aunt always seems to win at your Super Bowl party, the different types of Super Bowl bets Las Vegas offers include the money line, futures, props, point spread, and the over/under.

Many people like to bet the Super Bowl money line. Basically, this means that points are not involved and you simply pick a winner. If one team is a 4.5 point favorite, they are likely to be around -180 on the money line. You would have to risk $180 to win $100. However, if you think that the underdog will win straight up, money line bets can pay huge dividends. A 3 point underdog will get you around +160 on the money line, meaning that you could win $160 on a $100 wager.

Super Bowl futures bets are always a big money maker as well. Most of these types of bets are made before the start of the NFL season, and you bet on which team you think will win the Super Bowl for that year. Some sportsbooks offer futures bets throughout the season, with the lines changing based on how well a team is doing. For example, this year, you could have picked the Chicago Bears at the start of the season to win the Super Bowl and gotten +2500 odds. If they end up winning the Super Bowl, you could have turned $100 into $2,500.

Super Bowl props are always fun, and the 2011 Super Bowl props are no different. This is where you can really let loose and have a lot of fun on the big game. You can bet on nearly everything you can think of, including whether the coin toss will come up heads or tails. You can also bet on numerous other props, such as how long the National Anthem will be, what quarterback will throw for more yards, and whether or not there will be a kickoff returned for a touchdown.

To keep things interesting, Super Bowl prop bets have become so varied that some sportsbooks offer props spanning two sports - whether one Super Bowl team will wind up with a higher point total than LeBron James in a NBA game!

The 2011 Super Bowl point spread is sure to garner most of the action, as it almost always does. In this type of wagering, you look at the Super Bowl lines and take a team on the point spread. For example, if Chicago and New York are in the Super Bowl, the lines may come out with Chicago as a 3 point favorite. In this scenario, you could place your bet on Chicago -3 or New York +3. The lines will start off around -110 on both, meaning you put up $110 to win $100. As the money begins to go to one side, it may go up to where one side is -120 or even -130.

The Super Bowl over/under is always fun to bet. In this type of betting, the total amount of points scored in the game will be set, and you choose whether you think the points scored will go under or over. If the line is set at 44, you place money on the over 44 or the under 44. Much like the point spread, the line starts out around -110, and can then shift as more money comes in on either the over or the under.

Just remember that betting is supposed to be about fun. If you don't feel comfortable betting the point spread, bet on what color Gatorade will be dumped on the winning team's head coach. If you don't fully understand the money line, bet the over/under - there are plenty of ways you can have as good a time betting as that that Aunt who wins at squares every year!
